The course is focused on the development of interaction skills, as described in the European framework of reference for languages (C1+): “I can express myself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. I can use language flexibly and effectively for social and professional purposes. I can formulate ideas and opinions with precision and relate my contribution skilfully to those of other speakers.”
Following an exploration of the current political landscape in the United States of America,
students will be able to participate in a series of debates in a mock ramp-up to the 2026 midterm
elections. Particular attention will be paid to current affairs in warm-up activities and during the
classes. After the October break, students will roleplay landmark case hearings from the U.S. Supreme
Court, within wider debates about fundamental rights in the USA.
